About this website

Activity - Introduction to Wikis and the Wikieducator

Completion requirements
Introduction

In this activity you will be introduced to editable, open, collaborative web sites called wikis. You will sign up an account on the wiki for educators - the Wikieducator - and learn how to edit and create wiki pages.

Instructions
  1. The facilitator will show you some slides introducing wikis.
  2. You will review a few different wikis
  3. View the Bislama version of the Wikipedia (and the French and English)
  4. Navigate to the Wikieducator home page and click on "create account". Follow the steps to create an account. The facilitator will show you how to edit and add content to your "user page".
  5. The facilitator will demonstrate more advanced techniques such as creating new pages and uploading images.
  6. The facilitator will demonstrate the Wikieducator Lesson Plan template - try it out!
