About this website

This website is developed and maintained for Vanuatu Universal Access Policy Community of Practice (CoP). It's main objective is to connect people together and provide training on how to make best use of technology in their daily lives.

  1. Session 2 : Overview of the UAP Gateway Server and Portal
  2. Topic 3
  3. Activity - Adding a new user from Linux Command Line

Activity - Adding a new user from Linux Command Line

Completion requirements

Think of a person you know from your community, a friend for example. You will add this person as a user in the Active Directory centralised user system. You must add that user using the Linux command line method. For this to work you will need access to the command line on the server. This will depend on what device you are using:

  • Android you can use the Terminal Emulator app
  • Windows you can use Putty
  • Linux already has a Terminal, just open it
  • Or if you have direct physical access to the UAP Gateway and Server then well you are on a Linux server already in a terminal (though it will not have a Desktop user interface)

You can have a supervisor or trainer to help you make sure you get this assignment right.
