Introduction to two collaborative content projects from UNESCO

The facilitator will introduce you to two examples of local content collaborations by UNESCO in Solomon Islands and Cook Islands. Observe the key features of these resources:

  • Content relates to indigenous knowledge transfer
  • Collaboration between Ministries of Education, schools and communities
  • Involved engaging learning experiences where school students co-create content about local culture and indigenous knowledge with the aid of ICTs
  • Designed to link these activities to the curriculum in many content-areas
  • Dynamic resources (i.e. wiki web sites) empowering schools and communities to manage IK
  • ICT and curriculum matrix
  • Topic and curriculum matrix
  • Teaching guides and example lesson plans

You will receive a printed copy of the teaching guides for each resources.

Exercise

The facilitator will hand out a worksheet. Read and complete the first task (task 1).
