It is not necessary to join to the domain to take benefit from most of the services offered by the UAP Gateway and Server. However, it does offer some extra benefits which you will discover throughout this training module. Basically, this will only be possible on CLICC environment or maybe in TFS environment if there is an available laptop on site (this would be ideal!)

Joing a Windows PC to a Samba4 Domain

Installing Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT)

Again, the process would be the exact same as doing this for a Windows server. The Microsoft RSAT tools are freely available and the process is documented at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Installing_RSAT_on_Windows_for_AD_Management.
